Kulgera Accommodation, Hotels, Tours & Information

Kulgera

Kulgera is a small bush town surrounded by thousands of kilometres of cattle station, situated just 21 kilometres from the South Australian - Northern Territory border. The area is Pitjantjatjara country, and Aboriginal paintings can be found at sites in the area.

Kulgera in the last few years has been put on the map for being nearly the pin point geographical centre of Australia, whereas before Ti Tree had been marked as this by early explorers. 126 Kilometres East of Kulgera lies the Lambert Centre. This is where a five metre flagpole stands with the Australian flag to highlight this important landmark, the naming was after Bruce Lambert a surveyor and first head of the National Mapping Council.
