Outback Bush BBQ Review

It’s such a peaceful and beautiful spot you’ll find yourself saying ‘how’s the serenity’ in your head and ending the night with a little smile and a nod of the head…

There's nothing like an outback bush BBQ! Wow! What a night!

Outback Bush BBQIf you’re travelling with a group of people (minimum 20) or as part of a conference, read my holiday review and put the Outback Bush BBQ in your diary of things to do!

I was lucky enough to join one of the groups I’d organised while they were visiting Alice Springs. We were picked up from the hotel about 5pm and taken to an old Quarry site just outside of Alice Springs on the Undoolya Cattle Station, one of the oldest working cattle stations in Central Australia. We were greeted with amazing views over the MacDonnell Ranges and by Danny (the owner) who shows us some boomerang throwing and explains there are different styles depending on the activity.

We are escorted to the outdoor bar area where wine, beer and soft drinks are aplenty and asked to sit on log stools around the camp oven on sunset. Danny makes up damper right there in front of us and explains the working of cattle stations in the NT and how things have changed since the good old days. It’s extremely interesting and with the sun setting in the background you really get a feel of what it could have been like. Don steps in to explain, mmmm……. a lot of things really but mainly you learn about Aboriginal culture and life in a way that has never been described.

Outback Bush BBQNext is dinner and it’s superb. Steak, salad and the best baked potato I’ve ever eaten.

After dinner we sit around the campfire as the Tailormade team get their bush band instruments. We sing along to some of Australia’s timeless bush tunes and yes, all get involved in the Home-Among-the-Gumtree moves.

Before hopping on the coach Don finishes the night off some expert stargazing.

It’s such a peaceful and beautiful spot you’ll find yourself saying ‘how’s the serenity’ in your head and ending the night with a little smile and a nod of the head.
