Cultural Events

The Northern Territory’s Top End, rich in natural and cultural attributes, plays host to a number of cultural events that celebrate our Indigenous culture and provide an opportunity to share in the Aboriginal lifestyle. Gunbalanya Open Day in western Arnhem Land sees artists welcome visitors into their remote world. Desert Bird Week gives you the chance to learn Aboriginal survival skills while watching feathered friends, and the Barunga Festival mixes Indigenous music, dance and sport.

Rich in cultural heritage, the Northern Territory plays host to the most prominent cultural festivals in the country. From Garma, to the Gunbalanya Open Day to the Barunga Festival and the Merrepen Arts Festival in the north, to Alice Springs Desert Festival, Desert Mob and the Alice Springs Beanie Festival in Central Australia, nowhere else provides such abundant access and rich learning than the NT.

These holidays ideas are designed to visit the must-do places and must-see iconic sites, as well as allow for plenty of time to participate and celebrate our Aboriginal heritage at major cultural events.
